Jim Jones, FDA’s deputy commissioner for human foods

Bericht door noumoe »

Jim Jones, FDA’s deputy commissioner for human foods, has resigned from his post at the agency, according to multiple sources.

The move comes after the Trump administration over the weekend fired thousands of employees across HHS, including many within FDA’s foods program. It’s not clear whether Jones was asked to resign. The FDA press office did not immediately respond to questions nor a request to comment.

Jones had held the role of deputy commissioner for human foods since September 2023. A former longtime EPA official, Jones was brought in to help reorganize and shore up the FDA’s food division in the wake of intense criticism over the agency’s mishandling of the infant formula crisis and broader dysfunction on numerous health and safety issues.
