Sanctions against Iran set to snap back after UN Security Council vote

The UN Security Council voted against a proposal by Russia and China to delay the reinstatement of sanctions on Iran due to its nuclear program. The sanctions will take effect shortly after the vote, which saw a 4-9 outcome.

France, Germany, and the UK accused Iran of violating the 2015 nuclear deal, while Iran denies pursuing nuclear weapons. Iran's Foreign Minister criticized the sanctions as "legally void" and politically reckless.

Despite calls for continued diplomacy, the likelihood of further negotiations appears slim. Existing sanctions will add to Iran's economic pressures as regional tensions escalate.
