Three suspected #hantavirus case patients have just been evacuated from the ship and are on their way to receive medical care in the Netherlands in coordination with

, the ship’s operator and national authorities from Cabo Verde, the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands.
WHO continues to work with the ship’s operators to closely monitor the health of passengers and crew, working with countries to support appropriate medical follow-up and evacuation where needed. Monitoring and follow-up for passengers on board and for those who have already disembarked has been initiated in collaboration with the ship’s operators and national health authorities.

One American passenger returning from the hantavirus-stricken cruise ship MV Hondius is showing mild symptoms, and a second has tested positive for the Andes virus, according to HHS.
The positive case will be transported to the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit upon arrival.
All 17 American passengers aboard the Dutch vessel are being routed to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for quarantine.
The outbreak has produced nine confirmed or suspected cases and three deaths since the ship departed Argentina on April 1.
The CDC has classified it a Level 3 emergency but says the risk to the general public remains "extremely low."
