A virtual AI police chief named "AIko" has been introduced in Osaka Prefecture to combat rising imposter scams. AIko aims to raise awareness, especially among younger people, by sharing warnings through the police's YouTube channel. Scammers have targeted individuals from various age groups, posing as police officers and celebrities.


AIko's debut in a May video showcased scam techniques and included the warning, "No police officers show their IDs and arrest warrants online."

Nearly half of last year's scam victims were aged 64 or younger. Professor Toshinori Hirano hopes to enhance crime prevention awareness through technology.
