Biden's HHS released 400,000 illegal immigrant minors into US, mostly teen males, with no oversight: report
A report from the Judiciary Committee stated that the policies have allowed teenage unaccompanied alien children to "commit egregious crimes against Americans," including the killing of a 19-year-old autistic woman in Maryland.
According to the report from the congressional committee, unaccompanied alien children (UACs) have been crossing the border in increasingly high numbers. Policy from the Biden administration has the Border Patrol refer UAC cases over to the Office of Refugee Resettlement within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
More than 400,000 UACs have been referred to a sponsor during the Biden administration alone by HHS, double that of Trump's whole four years in office. "Most of these UACs are teenage boys, not infants or small children," the report states. HHS data showed that 70 percent of those UACs placed by HHS were over the age of 15. Additionally, as the report states, "HHS data show that males accounted for 61 percent of UAC encounters in FY 2023, 64 percent in FY 2022, and 66 percent in FY 2021."
However, other soft policies have allowed gang-affiliated and criminal UACs to commit heinous acts, including in the widely reported death of Kayla Hamilton. "As the Judiciary Committee and Immigration Subcommittee’s oversight has shown, HHS’s failures have also led to the release of UACs who have gone on to commit egregious crimes against Americans," the report stated.
Hamilton was raped as well as strangled to death in 2022 with the accused suspect being a teenage illegal immigrant who went through the UAC program, per the report from the Judiciary Committee. He was a member of the MS-13 gang in El Salvador.
Kayla was autistic and had been living in the same housing as the illegal immigrant at the time. This week, Kayla's mother, Tammy Nobles, told the New York Post, "[This] is occurring because Homeland Security and Health and Human Services are not doing their jobs and other agencies in power like the police and government aren’t doing anything to prevent this."
The comments came in light of the death of Rachel Morin, a mother of five whose accused killer and rapist, an illegal immigrant, was arrested last week in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The UAC charged with the murder of Hamilton had been arrested in El Salvador for his connection to the MS-13 gang years before he came to the US. This information was not investigated upon his entry into the US even though he had MS-13 tattoos.
Amid this spike in teen males coming over the border, officials in the Biden administration gave testimony and the Judiciary Committee gathered evidence to show that HHS does not "have a policy to refer known gang members to the Justice Department," or a policy to “ask UACs' home country consulates or embassies for their criminal record despite having the ability to do so.”
Additionally, HHS "never performed an audit in the case of the UAC who they released and went on to murder 19 year-old Kayla Hamilton," and the agency has "admitted that it does not currently have any secure facilities designed for the secure placement of UACs who pose a danger to themselves or others or who have been determined to have a criminal record."
