WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange filed a criminal complaint in Sweden against the Nobel Foundation, alleging the Peace Prize award to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado constitutes gross misappropriation of funds and facilitation of war crimes under Swedish law.

The Nobel Committee honored Machado for advancing democratic rights and pursuing a peaceful transition from dictatorship in Venezuela.

Assange argued the decision violates Alfred Nobel’s 1895 will, which requires the prize to promote fraternity between nations, reduce standing armies, and support peace congresses.

He cited Machado’s support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, amid U.S. military deployments and bombings of alleged drug boats, resulting in nearly 100 deaths.

Assange demanded freezing the 11 million kroner prize money, warning of potential diversion from charitable purposes to enable aggression, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

While the Peace Prize is awarded in Norway, Assange held the Stockholm-based foundation financially responsible.

Swedish police confirmed receipt of the complaint; the Economic Crime Authority stated it lacks jurisdiction.

Assange accused 30 Nobel-linked officials of converting a peace instrument into one of war.
